The Wedding Veil

I know, you're already thinking that the veil is beautiful, fantastic, essential, romantic... but take a moment to read this article to the end because I'll reveal some tricks to choose it best.

Let's make a list of rational and objective points, without controversy but only as food for thought.

A long wedding veil costs around 400 euros or even more depending on length and workmanship.

Almost always the veil is a different white than the dress and this is very disturbing, creating a cheap effect.

By tradition, the classic veil is longer than the train, which means that the entire back of the dress will be hidden during the ceremony, just when all the guests see you from behind for a long time. Every time you get up and sit down it will shift and you'll need people to constantly straighten it.

While you walk the veil cannot stay still and open. Forget the image in the mirror in the atelier where you look like a Madonna and think of yourself more as someone who is dragging a crumpled mosquito net with her head. If there's wind, the veil cannot be spread out because of the sail effect that will take your head away and for obvious reasons it cannot be open behind you.

As you walk, the long veil will lengthen, losing its round shape and all the workmanship on the edge will not be appreciated.

You won't tolerate it. You'll hate it. You can't wait to take it off from the first moment they pin it to your head. All brides breathe a huge sigh of relief when they take off the veil after the ceremony and don't intend to put it back on.

Is it worth it?

If you really don't want to give up the veil, use these precautions not only for comfort, but also for a refined and chic result:

  • Make sure the color is as similar as possible to the dress: look at them together under natural light.

  • If you choose a challenging dress and super worked, opt for a mid or short veil, without any workmanship, to balance and slim the figure.

  • If you want a super elaborate veil choose a simple and elegant dress, without frills and without a large train: it will slim your figure for a super elegant effect.

  • Height is important: if you are tall, the long veil will make you look slimmer, if you are under one meter and sixty, a long veil will make you look even shorter.

  • There's not only the classic veil, but also hats, hoods, cloaks, capes, nets, these are all head and shoulder accessories that will add a romantic and modern effect.

  • Finally, naturally, for more informal weddings there's always the most comfortable option: no veil!

And you, will you break with tradition to choose something that truly reflects you?
