Unconventional wedding: inside the mind of a creative photographer

What lies behind unconventional storytelling for nerd weddings
Where many see only the theme, the quirkiness, or the simple "unconventional," I see color theory, art history, narrative structure, and a cultural message to be built in a few seconds, almost subconsciously.

Photographing an unconventional wedding is a narrative and design challenge
The difference between "taking pictures" and having an artistic direction lies entirely in the intangible. Where you see only Francesco playing cards and smoking cigars with his friends in his uncle's antique warehouse, I see the warm overhead light of Van Gogh in The Potato Eaters. I see the semi-circular composition; I see the anthropomorphic Dogs Playing Poker by Cassius Marcellus Coolidge. But I also see Yumeko Jabami and her card-playing skills in Kakegurui.

How to build a sequence without taking time away from the wedding day?
Achieving all this by transforming it into a convivial moment, without stress or pretense, is behind-the-scenes design. It is fundamental to me that the people I photograph do not realize they are part of a studied narrative arc. The photographic service must accompany the day, not steal the scene.
I don't just take photos: I design the visual heritage of unconventional weddings.

Who is the Drimage photographer?
I am Simona Turano: a professional photographer for over ten years, working throughout Italy and Europe. My training started at the Liceo Artistico, passed through the Academy of Fine Arts, and moved across Italy through countless specialist courses. Today I also hold qualifications as a sommelier and Wedding Planner. I have been an illustrator and have published several novels.

Why all this instead of just taking pictures?
Because for every project, I need it to rest on a solid structure of multidisciplinary skills that provide me with the tools to build a coherent, understandable, and cultural narrative arc.
